This blog post is created based on the materials one of our customers, Steven Le Noch, a sound engineer and music producer, kindly shared with us.
The Prehistory
Steven Le Noch (aka Big Steven) has been a professional musician for over 15 years. Besides pursuing his career as a sound engineer, he also teaches sound engineering at Montreal College. Given his occupation, Steven has spent countless hours behind various desks, whether console or studio desks, constantly facing the same problem.
“As a “big” person, I can't spend more than two hours without being uncomfortable, crossing my legs and feeling compressed, and without having back problems that manifest themselves due to bad posture,” Steven says.
Browsing the Internet in search of possible solutions, he soon realized that his problem could be addressed by adapting the sitting position to a standing one, which could prolong work efficiency. That's when Steven came up with the idea of creating his desk adapted to his professional and physical needs.
We reached out to Steven with a few questions about his decision to go with the Progressive Desk and invited him to share his experience in using his new adjustable workplace.
What standing desk features were you looking for?
Steven: I did a lot of research, and since I wanted something specific, I took my time. Firstly, I was looking for an affordable and easy-to-install desk frame, long and large enough for my current desktop and able to support a lot of weight. Secondly, I needed a remote control to save my preferred desk’s height positions.
What led you to the decision to buy a standing desk with us?

What do people who visit your office say about the new standing desk setup?
My clients and colleagues are always impressed by the setup. The first comment is always the same: “It must have cost you a lot...” but my answer always surprises them!
The standing desk is helping not only me but also my assistants. They tend to use the standing-up position to move a little bit during the long sessions. It's always a relief to be able to change the height of the desk whenever I need to!
